Get Your Vehicle Ready For Your Summer Road Trip

Now that we are well on our way to summer, it's time to pack up your family, friends, and furry friends, and head out to that far-away destination.'s time for a road trip !! We know that you have a lot on your mind, and your packing list, but don’t forget to check one of the most important tools for this trip: your car.

No matter if you have an SUV, sedan, van, or truck, you need to make sure that the following essential summer car care tips are taken care of before you head out.

  • Oil Change

Oil changes are a pain, but they are absolutely necessary if you want your vehicle to last long. Your engine's oil not only cools and lubricates your engine, but it also cleans out any dirt or grime that makes its way into your engines parts. All of this hard work can leave your engine thin, sludgy, and dirty and, if you haven't had an oil change in a while, you should probably get it changed before you leave.

  • Fluids Check

It doesn't take much to check your fluids, but, if they aren't checked and are low or have a leak, it could lead to major problems down the road. Some of the important fluids to check are: coolant, power steering, transmission, and windshield wiper. It takes just a few minutes to check each of these and it is most definitely worth it.

  • Tire Pressure Check

Your tires are what keep you firmly on the road and, with the changing weather, the air in them can fluctuate. It's best before you start your journey to double check that the pressure is good. If it isn't, simply use an air pump to add more air. These can be found at most any gas station and are quite easy to use. Don't forget to check the spare tire too. You never know if you are going to have to use it.

  • Clean The Car: Inside And Out

Nothing is nicer than having a clean space to start out in. We know that it will most likely get messy along the way, but at least you won't start out that way. Even if you don't necessarily clean out the entire vehicle, you should wash the inside and outside of the windshield and, while you're there, check the windshield wipers to make sure they don't leave streaks as you use them. Being able to see clearly is especially helpful when you don't know where you're going.

Ready to head out?

Once all of these are checked off of your car-to-do list, your luggage and kids are packed, and you've made sure to lock the doors behind you, you're good to go! We, at Loving Honda, hope you have a wonderful time!
